Concealed Handguns Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I become a registered instructor?

A. Refer to the “Instructor Requirements” section of our web page (http://www.lsp.org/handguns.html).

You must be a National Rifle Association Instructor certified to teach the NRA Basic Pistol Course or Personal Protection Course, or a current Louisiana P.O.S.T. certified firearms instructor. You may be certified as both.

You must send:

1. A completed instructor application/information form. This form can be downloaded from the website.
2. A certified true (notarized) copy of your instructor credentials.
For P.O.S.T. instructors, that will be a copy of your most recent instructor certification.
For N.R.A. instructors, that will be both your certificate and your current wallet card.
3. A copy of your course syllabus which outlines nine hours of instruction.

NOTICE!!!!! PLEASE SEND ONLY WHAT IS LISTED ABOVE. DO NOT SEND RESUMES, COVER LETTERS, COPIES OF OTHER CERTIFICATIONS OR ANY OTHER DOCUMENTATION THAT IS NOT LISTED ABOVE. APPLICATIONS IMPROPERLY SUBMITTED OR NOT MEETING THE ABOVE CRITERIA WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
